Ever since the abomination that RedHat 7.0 was - I've used SuSE. I've been off of it for awhile, but the suse-oracle mailing list was good, and SuSE had 3 developers at Redwood Shores when RedHat had none. The SuSE developers were active on the oracle-linux-l on fatcity also.

But - with the marketing coup that was pulled off by Oracle/RedHat/Dell, it appears that if you want pre-installed leenucks in the US, you hafta deal with RedHat again, although Compaq^H^H^H^H^H^H HP is still shipping SuSE pre-installed on its Proliant servers.

The RAID controllers on the Dell PE 2300 line weren't the best by any means. Its a good idea to upgrade firmware and to multiplex the online redo logs across multiple controllers, but the the controllers are the same model, and you have a driver issue, multiplexing may not help.

nothing significant, just an opinion.
