By "prepared the partitions", I'm guessing that you have created lots of logical partitions, and are getting ready to RAC on raw devices. First question: why? One has to be bordering on insane to want to RAC with raw, particularly since Oracle has developed a nice clustering file system which means the pain is totally unnecessary. Second: the extended partition in which all these logical partitions exist... I'm guessing that you have found some free space on a disk somewhere, and created them there. If so, it's not good enough. Oracle requires the entire hard disk to be created as an extended partition. That is, the extended partition cannot share the hard disk with anything or any other partitions. That's why the preinstall_rac setup tool can't find any suitable partitions. Third: if none of the above is true for you, you're going to have to supply a rather more detailed explanation of your setup, including hardware configuration and specifications.
