But since you can edit the init.ora directly, you don't have to sit there issuing commands to get the file into an editable state before fixing the problem. Nor issue commands to re-create the damn thing afterwards.
You have to do two extra bits of typing to fix the problem. I, with my humble init.ora, don't! That's all. Maybe claiming two bits of typing was 'tedious' was a teensy-weensy bit of hyperbole on my part!! I still find it a pain, though.

Then you are obviously a better typist than me, because I have on several occasions set shared_pool_size to zero by not hitting the '8' key hard enough.
