be careful with listeners : in MTS configs, 8i and 9i listeners somehow collapse each other, and in my experience (on a Solaris 8 server) 8i listener randomly crashes.
This problem were solved by using only a 9i listener to handle both databases 8i and 9i with 8i and 9i clients.
