Try shutting off the listener. Go out to services and check to see what has started. If can't get to services, check from Explorer. You could also try bringing up a command prompt (DOS prompt) and typing "set oracle_sid= <databasename>" then type "lsnrctl status" and see if listener is running. I had the same problem. Do you only have Oracle 9i or do you also have 8i? Note that the listener for 8i will start and in order to get 9i to run you will probably have to stop the listener.Otherwise,exactlywhat exact error message are you receiving?
