really have a problem with the opening paragraph of that article:

LMTs were NOT introduced in Oracle 8.

They were introduced in Oracle 8i. And they only really became sufficiently debugged to be usable, with 8.1.7.4. There is, like, nearly four years in-between! Read metaclick patch bundle bug descriptions if you think they were usable in production before that.

There is no point to be made in omitting the fact that LMTs are relatively "new" in Oracle terms, just for the sake of encouraging their use.

There are still a LOT of users out there using 8.0 (or even 7.3, as incredible as that may sound!) and this sort of thing can cause problems to their DBAs if it is read by someone that doesn't know the full story!

Not nice: in most cases, it is NOT the dba's fault that managers have systematically refused to upgrade!
