There is a memory limit on 32-bit versions. I think it is 2G for SGA/Shared memory.
64 bit version has no practical upper limit (I ran a 25G SGA of total 64G memory on solaris E10000 - for performance testing reasons)

I felt (subjective) that the 64 bit version was a bit slower than the 32 bit sister, when we migrated. My inner clock said ~ 5%. That was on Oracle EE 8.1.6.1.0 solaris 8.
