diff btw RESOURCE and DBA on quota

What is the difference between RESOURCE and DBA roles as far as space quota is concerned?

I have a user with RESOURCE role as default. He can create tables etc but he gets:
ORA-01536: space quota exceeded

OEM DBASTUDIO quota tab says he has unlimited tablespace usage. Once I give him DBA role, the error doesn't occur. But it is a bad idea for him to keep the dba role.What's wrong with the RESOURCE role here?
