ORA_NLS33 problems

Hi all,

Environment here is Oracle 8.1.7.0.0 on AIX 4.3.3 on RS6000 SP node.

I have what appears to be a peculiar situation. If I set the ORA_NLS33 environment variable to its correct(?) value:

$ORACLE_HOME/ocommon/nls/admin/data

the export utility fails with an ORA-03113 error (end-of-file on communication channel)

If I unset the ORA_NLS33 variable completely, the export fails in the same manner.

If however I set ORA_NLS33 to a value OTHER than the correct one, e.g. ORA_NLS33=XXXXXX then export works OK.

I've trawled around MetaLink but so far haven't found anything relevant.

The character set of the database I'm trying to export is US7ASCII by the way and I am running the export utility from the server.

Anyone any ideas?

Many thanks,
