I couldn't agree with you more, Billy!

Worked for the US government some time back. Some developers from one of the contractors were working late one night and couldn't find a government employee to fix a database problem. They thought they'd have to wrap up and continue the next morning when they could reach a civil servant. A knowledgeable developer at the contractor site "hacked" in and fixed the problem. Instead of thanking him for pointing out a security failure, they fired him (at the government's request). AFAIK, the sysadmin never did patch up the hole ... but they were all grins that they had "caught" the hacker red-handed. Go figure. Received on Wed Jan 15 2003 - 10:41:14 CST
