The ability to swallow your pride and give a humble response instead of the first (attitude filled) response that comes to mind is a skill far too rare in this world. I hope it has occurred to you that it goes both ways. There is always information that is not offered in the original post for brevity, the person didn't feel it was appropriate, didn't occur to them, etc. I suspect the poster is often willing to RTFM but knows it will take significant time to wade through all the information available and is simply looking for a way to narrow the search. In some cases, as a poster is waiting for a reply, they are in fact RingTFM. When the first reply to a post is a high caliber RTFM shot it is a natural reaction to fire back.

Consider using a smaller hammer until you have determined that the poster is just a lazy, low-down, good-for-nothing scumbag--then at least your shot is justified. Perhaps a more professional acronym (than RTFM) would help. Any suggestions?
