I don't know about benchmarking these bits of kit, but I'd be asking myself 'what experience do I have in house for administering hardware' and working up from there. For example, if I had a full compliment of Microsoft experience, I'd probably be loath to move over to a Unix installation - regardless of how much better is is/would be because I'd need to shell out vast sums of money to retrain staff or employ staff who know Unix.

Just a thought.
