I'm not aware of anything that should be causing this. I'd just make a clean start by removing everything Oracle on the box. Cold boot the machine.
And make sure that when you do the install you very carefully follow the installation steps as explained in the documentation on the CD including setting up groups, permissions, kernel parameters, etc.
Then if you have a problem read the installation log and see what it reports.
