SQL Programmer Desc[ribe] command

Anyone familiar with BMC Software SQL Programmer, how do I issue the
Describe (desc) command from a free sql window?  One would think it
was as simple as :


desc username.databaseobject -or- describe username.databaseobject
but both return "ORA-00900: invalid SQL statement"
