Yes, it's running on woody here.
The trick is, that you have to compile some en_ locales. dpkg-reconfigure locales and select

en_US ISO-8859-1
en_US.UTF-8 UTF-8

This will make the thingy work.

P.S.: I'm still waiting for the day when Oracle is going to support Debian :/
