Home -> Community -> Usenet -> c.d.o.server -> Anyone ever need more file handles on Solaris 8/Oracle 8.1.7
We are getting intermittent ORA-12154 errors on a Solaris 8 system with an Oracle 8.1.7r3 client installed. The ulimit for the user is unlimited.
Oracle support has suggestd either network latency (not the case) or a short supply of file handles.
I believe the default hard limit on Solaris 8 is 1024. It is very dangerous to raise this limit above 1024. Has anyone had to do this? Does anyone have any other ideas that might be causing these intermittent ORA-12154 errors?
The main application on this server is BEA Weblogic 6.1SP3 using JDK 1.3.1_06. (The OS has all relevant patches as of 11 Dec to include Maintenance Pack 7, the Solaris 8 recommended patch cluster, and the latest J2SE patch cluster)
Any ideas?
Thx,
Chuck
