Directives with expressions like 'close to ' can be very misleading. Check how many
'redo entries' you have, how many 'redo writes'; when compared to these, does your number of requests seem 'far beyond' zero, or relatively close to zero ?

It is very common, by the way, for a log file switch to result in a 'redo log space request'. Typically this may mean a few hundredths of a second of dead time every 15 minutes and is rarely something to worry about.
