No need. There are a couple of scripts you can run to put Scott in the database (who is being phased out -shame!- because he's too simple and his schema is not 'rich' enough to adequately demonstrate the wonderful new features in 8i and 9i).

The one I always use is in $ORACLE_HOME/rdbms/admin and it's called utlsampl.sql. Run that in SQL*Plus, and it disconnects you... but a 'connect scott/tiger' then works.

One thing to watch: the script always creates Scott without a default tablespace, and everything therefore ends up in the SYSTEM tablespace... so I always edit the script first and stick an 'alter user scott default tablespace USERS;' towards the top of it.

Alternatively, create your own user Scott, and set his default tablespace as you'd like. Also grant appropriate privileges to him (again, look at utlsampl.sql to see what they should be) and then run the script demobld.sql in the ORACLE_HOME/sqlplus/demo directory.
