I'm hoping the upside to this is that now we will be allocated some time for a serious tuning effort (something that's NEVER happened here) and, hopefully, some things I've been preaching about for several years will finally get some consideration. My fear is that, since we've never been allowed time to do some serious, in-depth tuning, my own skills are not going to be up to snuff. I've been in this Oracle DBA business for about seven years now, but instead of seven year's experience, it's been more like one year's experience, seven times.
