Not really. I lose my entire cool when I see people who pretend to know something about Oracle confuse X with Y. It's like saying 'PMON does instance recovery'. Er... that's SMON! PMON-SMON.. it's just a letter, whaddoesitmatter?

It matters a lot.

If you don't have a good grasp of the Oracle architecture, one shouldn't presume to offer advice on it.

And if you may a typo, say you did so, not "Oh well, it depends". It doesn't. Either you meant what you said, or you can clairfy you use of the language, or you didn't know what you were talking about.

Not to say any of this applies to you, Pablo. Just that I have frequently gone nutz about people who do precisely this. And this is a classic example, the solution to which is simply for Karsten to post "Ooops. I said 'dispatchers' when I meant to say 'shared servers'. I was wrong. Sorry."
