I don't think it's a fairplay. The DBA who can't answer the following
questions may know something you don't know.
Why not let the candidates brief how they work as a DBA, like how they
design the DB, how they do backup and recovery and what tuning problems
they've ever met and what's the solution etc., interviewer can judge them
based on their own knowledge and real experience first, then go on with ur
own questions.
