Sorry I didn't answer a few things,
Jonothan, if you see my explain plan, thats what I have done. I have
created the
index and it did help. At one point of time with out index this query
brought the system to a (almost)complete halt. After adding the index
its better.
I did suggest our application guys to change the query, I hope they will consider it as their top priority.
