Hi, I'm more than a little confused by the apparent similarities and differences between what is a user and what is a schema.

I have installed on my home computer Oracle 8i Enterprise.

Loading up "Oracle Enterprise Manager" I note that the default install has created a user called "SCOTT" and a schema called "SCOTT". When I create a new user called "MARY" I note that I only have a new user called "MARY", but no new schema called "MARY".

So what is the difference?
And if I wanted to create a new schema called "MARY" how would I do it?
And why would I want to do it?

Thank you
