I have read all three known HOWTOs on Oracle 8i/9i to get the best out of all, but it does not work. As I mentioned above one of our developers told me that this could also depend on libjitc, the JAVA compiler. Because sometimes this compiler occurs timeouts and all stops.

I think it does not depend on RAM. Others have written about their setup experiences with less RAM - and it works. I dont know why it won't install under Slackware 8.1.
