Oracle 8.1.6 on Dell PE-2650 & NT4 SP6

I have a new Dell PowerEdge 2650 server with NT4 Server Sp6a (standalone setup). It was setup using the Dell setup software. Nothing else is installed (I have not upgraded the default IE3 web-browser). I am trying to install Oracle Enterprise 8.1.6 from CD. When inserting the CD, the autorun works but clicking on "Install/De-install Software" seems to do nothing. It seems as if it is about to start and then stops. There is nothing reported in the event logs, no remnants of applications/processes left running when checking via Taskmanager. My only guess is that it is something to do with Java as the Oracle installer uses Java heavily. The installation has been tried after upgrading to IE6 with the same result. Any thoughts?
