If I remember correctly, No...
The 6i developer tools use 8.0.x compatible binaries, so they need a separate home.. They also should, ideally, be installed BEFORE the 8i set since the installer used for 6i may not handle the multiple-homes settings correctly ( the registry and path, in Windows, for instance ) so your 8i may not work properly after the 6i install.
