No, both are situated in basement. In fact is very difficult (from
building construction point of view) to have big computer server site
elsewhere than in basement.
We have two sites with about 15km distance between them. One is
situated in centre of Prague and another one in surrounding area of
Prague. The one outside of centre is really high above the river
(water stopped about three km from us). Even that one in centre was
not damaged by river (which is very fortunate, because there is
computer equipment worth hundreds of millions USD), but elektricity
supply was switch off and it will be very difficult to keep gasoline
generators in work for several days. Not mentioning that would not be
a good idea to keep support people near flooded area where all traffic
infrastructure was flooded or even destroyed.
So we were doing our business using just one site, IT was not fully
functional, but crucial services were kept running. So everything is
OK.
Maybe, OK is not a good phrase to describe situation here. Our company
(and also me as personal) suffered only minor losses, but overall
damage in Prague and in whole country is extreme.
