Yup. You don't even need the private interconnect at all: RAC will work with a single 100Mbps public ethernet interface. Obviously, not recommended in production environments, but it will work.

Sorry, can't help. Linux is not my cup of tea... my RAC uses Windows 2000. In W2K, you have to set up symbolic links to the raw partitions, and specify those link names as locations for the datafiles, controlfiles and redo logs when creating a database. That would suggest to me that you should use a logical volume manager, but I am honestly just guessing (if there's one thing I've learnt, it's that what refuses to work in Windows usally works in Linux).
