Quite right. And even the 500 thing is relative. If you're the "Dirk the Daring" type and have modified the sql.bsq in the listed spots, you'll find that with DMT the limit for bad performance is around 1000, sometimes higher depending on what changes and what block size.

I'd expect LMT would be at least a coupla thousand if not more. Or even much more. Dunno. I know one thing: I blew a PL/SQL loop last year and an LMT TS went into overdrive at around 3000 extents. Performance went out the window. That was 8.1.7.0. Ie, no patches.
