scheduling rman jobs

How can we schedule rman jobs? Just wondering if we've to schdedule it as a
cron job or there're some other functionalities from Oracle to schdeule the
job. The Oracle 8.1.7 Enterprise Edition db is going to be in Solaris
environment.
