9i giving ORA 600 error via JDBC

Does someone know why this error comes when i connect via JDBC?

I could not find much in the docs. So i searched in the internet and found this piece of advise. " For example, if the Java property is set at the virtual machine runtime, the following command will cause the Oracle9i JDBC drivers to return empty streams from calls to ResultSet::getXXXStream(): java -Djdbc.backward_compatible_to_8.1.7 myJavaProgram"

Does someone shed more light on this?. Where and how do i set this java property or is there any other way?

Our application works fine with 8.x.

I also tried downloading the latest 9i drivers for JDBC etc. etc. Nothing seems to help.
