However, in my current situation we use Informatica for ETL and Business Objects for Analysis. The end users seem to get what they want!

With reqards to sizing. A big db block size is the norm. High multiblock read is good. If using RAID a stripe size (greater than 64k) is good with at least 4 disks in the strip set. Make sure UNIX max I/O size is set to 1 meg. Defaults to 128k in Solaris, IIRC. Materialized view's, partitioning, bitmap indexes (huge!), Create Dimision's (for Star optimization) , big db block buffer, etc., all required. Received on Tue Jul 02 2002 - 15:46:54 CDT
