I wondered about putting some sort of spam filter on my email address too, but in the end decided not to. The reason was simply because I wanted people to be able to reach me easily if necessary. And of course, I'm always fascinated by being offered septic tanks, universal joints from China, and the range of X-rated email I end up with is just hugely interesting - not! ;)
Actually, I normally get 5 or so spam messages a day. I just delete them without even reading them. When you get over 100 emails a day, 5% wastage isn't too much of a concern to me.
