pb changing charset

Hi,

I want to change the charset from my database from WE8ISO8859P1 to a database UTF8 , I loose some french characters ( like é , ç ...)

• to export the database NLS_LANG= american_america.WE8ISO8859P1 right ????
• drop the 8859 database and create a new database UTF8
• to import the file into the database NLS_LANG=american_america.UTF8 right ???

to see my data:
NLS_LANG=american_america.UTF8 right ???

doing that, I loose some french characters ( like é , ç ...)

what is the right way to do that ??
