Given that the client is my PC running windows, and it's the only PC that uses 8.1.7 client, I wasn't really bothered by the inconveniece of adding .world to my connection strings.

When and if I will need to upgrade other PCs to this client, I will definetely give it a closer look. Most clients that we have to the db (production clients) are solaris boxes, which did not have such problems.
