Objectivity is in the eye of the beholder. The Oracle types will be able to point you to "objective" surveys that support their product, and IBM types will be able to point you to "objective" surveys that support their product. However, "objective" surveys are pure crap as far as making a decision goes. They all make their "objective" decisions based on very subjective arguments.

But the bottom line is this...despite all the rhetoric you'd get from the partisans, you're just as likely to be successful with one as the other. If you have qualified, knowledgeable people building the system, then you're not likely to fail.
