There's only one appropiate advice: either turn your shop in a museum
and start selling tickets to visitors, or upgrade to a supported
version.
You should also try to understand what downwards compatible means: it
means a *lower* version *client* can connect to a *higher* version
*server*, and you are exactly doing the opposite. Oracle has never
supported that! Also, do you know how many releases there have been
your desupported 8.1.6 and your desupported 7.2.X?
You don't expect to be capable to run a DVD on a laser disc player, do
you?
