well, I know qutie a few with excellent skills who have been waiting for in excess of 12 months for the "right job" or contract to come along. In this period, they've been bypassed a number of times by companies who decide to "outsource" their IT to the cheapest possible bidder.

Exactly where does this "experience being worth the wait" kick in? Because I know some of these people will be reading this message and wondering the same...
