Yes, "upgrading" is not always an alternative, and anyone who actually wants to offer useful advice, should not suggest it like that...

Anyway, I feel your pain. We're seeing a similar problem on 7.3.4. Fortunately, we're going be upgrading to 8.1.7 in the near future, but we still need a better solution right now. The trigger works in our 8.1.7 test environment but not in 7.3.4. I read another post on here somewhere that mentioned that there was an undocumented bug w/ 8.0.x that caused this problem.
