Can't help you on the SQL Server side of things, but yes: Net8 is the new
improved version of SQL Net. And if you go to my web site and have a look at
Tips/Networking, you'll discover how to configure Net8 for direct
connections to the Oracle database, and maybe that will help you get your
SQL Server connection going.
