Probably memory issues. How much RAM have you got on that box?

As for the domain... I take it you don't have a "proper" domain name? Neither do I at home. Which is why I use '.local'. In other words, I have a database called db9, it's global name would be 'db9.local'. If you miss it out, I think you get '.world' -though one I did recently ended up with 'us.oracle.com', which alarmed me a bit!
