assuming, that you don't need it for a production environment, there are no reasons not to go for it. We have a dozen development databases running on SuSE 7.0 and no single problem for about two years. From my perspective (development and consulting), there are advantages. Examples:

• Administration of Oracle fits more organically in an Unix environment
• System Resources are better used than by a Windows system
• you gain experience in an Unix environment; as a trainer you barely can't ignore that OS-family
