Problems with Oracle 9i on Win2k

Hi.

Further to an earlier thread where I was having problems installing Oracle 9i and creating a database on Win2k SP2. These are my findings.

I did a complete clean reinstall of Win2k plus SP2. The installation (Software Only) of 9i went OK. However, when I tried to create a database using the Database Configuration Assistant it crashed on the last step and rebooted the server. The database had not been created properly and could not be seen by Enterprise Manager. Does this happen on other systems?

I really can't afford the time to create the database again - it took several hours to try to create this one - so I'm going to wipe 9i and use 8i (8.1.7) instead.
I was able to install 8i and configure a database on another Win2k SP2 server in less time than 9i took to fail to create a database alone! Evidently 9i still has issues and until a Service Pack (or updated version) is released for it, I can't see myself using it (or recommending it) on Win2k SP2.
Does anyone know if there is a new version in the pipeline?
