In Unix there is no need to make images. Every part of your
configuration can be coppied just as files. No registry keys, no
sharing problems with copying running system executables. Just tar
everything you want to have on the other site, put on tape and untar
in destination. However if your servers are not strictly identical,
then you can encounter problem because of differencies in
configuration. And of course if your servers are running different
version of Unix or even another type of Unix, you must carefully
handle differencies between versions.
The best strategy for you is hard to tell you because of lack of
informations.
