That's true, actually. I forgot about that "minor" detail when doing the
original reply, so it's probably/definitely going to include export and
import.
But if it was me, and given Don's comments about the lack of space on his disk, I think I'd upgrade the database in situ, so that I could then take advantage of the FILESIZE limits in the 8i & 9i versions of export. A couple of exports and ftp's later, the data could be moved gradually over to the new machine (with it's separate 9i installation) without overstressing the original machine's hard disks.
So the migration utility etc. isn't a complete loss for him just yet.
