Well, I think it's correct for Oracle 8 OPS but for Oracle 9i RAC using of raw devices is not necessary.
I also have 9i RAC (2 instances )running under RH 7.2 on a single PC with database files placed firstly on raw devices, than on ext2 filesystem, and finally, on NFS mounted on other Windows NT 4.0 machine with NFS Maestro server.
