HELP please - unable to print from Oracle Forms & Reports

Situation:

We are installing an Oracle application in a very small, very new country. Server running Win2k, Oracle version is 8i, Forms & Reports v.6i

The database resides offsite and we connect via WAN to the database - application itself is a little slow but runs OK. We've moved copies of all executables & templates over to the local server to reduce bandwidth consumption.

The printing setup at the local office is using HP Jet Direct cards - and the printers have been setup on each client machine (clients run Win98)& tested OK (Can print docs from MS Word for example.)

When trying to print from our Oracle app, the reports background engine fires up OK, but then the application and the background engine hang, without producing any output. The print job never appears in the printer queue.

Has anyone out there experienced similar symptoms? Better yet - anyone have any ideas? We're kind of cut off and both of us are at wits end.
