This is a very interesting article. However the conclusions I would draw from it are that the benchmark is almost meaningless as it demonstrates that you need to know the database engine that you have and code appropriately (JDBC to SQLServer anyone?). What it does demonstrate is that database and web server apllication tuning is still a complex and time consuming art and 'generic' code will have to be rewritten to perform well (or perhaps at all) in your environment.

bet people still buy generic apps that run on 'the database platform of your choice' though.
