jre problem with install of 9i on win98

i am trying to install oracle 9i on win98 and the install program immediately popped up a msg with a problem running a jre from c:\temp\...bin\jre.

i am assuming the install tries to put a jre there for the apache server and it couldnt. anybody have any ideas?

interestingly, i tried the same thing with oracle 8.1.6 on an aix box running 4.3.3 and had exactly the same problem ( altho the msg was regarding /tmp... )

i tried linking a jre 1.1.8 program i had to the directory it was complaining about and had no luck...
