Oracle 9i Installation

in the documentation these are the system req. for oracle 9i(and I have the following on my Linux box) would be possible to have a clean install with minimal sys requirements:

Memory 512MB ( I have 512)
Swap Space at least 512MB (I have 512)
/tmp directory requires 400MB ( I have 312MB - any idea how I can go around this issue?)

Also, is the installation on Solaris, AIX, RedHat pretty straightforward or does it require some hacking ? Is the readme easy to follow?
